34 Week update

We only have about 6-7 weeks to go! We are naming him Jasper! During this 6 weeks we are going to be so busy...we are in the process of selling our house and buying another one...we hope to be moved in to our new house before Jasper is born.

Here are some facts about this week in development:

Jasper measures about 19.8 inches (50.3cm) from head to toe and weighs about 5 pounds (2.3kg). He is settling into the head-down position, although it might not be final. Organs are now almost fully mature, except for lungs, and his skin is pink instead of red. Fingernails reach the ends of fingers, but toenails are not yet fully grown. He might have lots of hair by now. Movements are less frequent because of the tight fit.

Jenny:

Her uterus hardens and contracts as practice for labor, known as Braxton Hicks contractions, but she has not had much of them yet. Her pelvis has expanded and starting to ache, especially at the back. Uterus is pushed hard against her lower ribs and her rib cage has been sore, especially when Jasper gets to pushing on those ribs, and her navel is almost completely pushing out as a result of her abdomen being stretched.

Baby Update 28 weeks

Jenny had her doctor visit yesterday, everything is going great. She is right on track with everything. We are now moving to Doctor visits every 2 weeks and we start child birthing class in 2 weeks...we will meet once a week for 7 weeks!

Here is a summary of what should be going on during this 28th week:

Baby:

Our baby measures about 9.6 inches (24.4cm) from crown to rump and weighs a little more than 2 pounds (907g). Hands are active and muscle coordination is such that he can get his thumb into his mouth. Thumb-sucking calms the baby and strengthens his cheek and jaw muscles. He also can cry now.

Jenny:

Has a stretch mark as her uterus continues to expand (see below the beautiful expanded uterus). Most women have gained about 16 (7.3kg) to 22 pounds (10kg) by now, Jenny has gained 16 at this point. Balance and mobility is changing.

We did some tests on our Son's reactions to light and sound last night. We played a few different songs which he really didn't react much to...but then I played one song that was the sound of soothing waterfalls and he immediately reacted! He actually reacted every time we played it! We then put a small pen light on Jenny's belly in different spots...he moved at the spots with light!!! It was so neat! We were both really excited at his reactions!
We have a first name picked out by the way...just working on the middle now!
Not going to give out the name just yet...

Our Easter Weekend

Well we had a great weekend! Unfortunately without our family...we missed everyone! It was just the three of us...except for Saturday....
Saturday our Church put on a huge community celebration. Jenny and I were volunteers...We helped with the fun Jumps, Jenny helped with registrations, and I did balloon animals! Which is a new skill I have developed as of last Wednesday night, when a friend from church taught me how to make a few animals with the balloons (see pictures way bellow of some balloon animals I made).
We were having so much fun that Jenny got arrested:

They let me drive her down town for questioning, some questions were: Why is Pregnant Jenny so much fun?

Actually they didn't let us drive any police cars! It was for pictures!:

There was a motorcycle but I didn't want to take one with it due to comments like, "Look at Chip":
Here Jenny was busted being Pregnant by the Firetruck:
Scrumpy the fire dog had to stop her from pushing all kinds of buttons:

He then gave her a little fire hose doll to pose with!
Here is a shot of the big bunny kids were beating!
There were over 2 thousand people there...For just the egg hunts there were counted about 1 thousand kids! They had 10,000 eggs, plastic eggs, that we helped stuff with candy on Wednesday:
I made balloon animals for about 1.5 hours...There were about 4 of us making balloon animals constantly...the line never slowed...it was really fun...especially when little kids say that they want a snake...that is just a balloon pumped with air!
Afterwards, Jenny and I went lunch at On the border in Allen...Which it was more like a Lunner....Then we went to party city and purchased some balloons so I could make some more at home(click to enlarge if necessary):

Sunday we went to church and enjoyed a really good service. We were invited to eat lunch with some of our church family but we decided to just stay home and eat some unleavened bread with hummus. Then just relaxed the rest of the day.

Baby Update: 26 Weeks

Baby:

Our baby measures about 9.2 inches (23.4cm) from crown to rump and weighs almost 2 pounds (907g) now. His hearing is fully developed. As he reacts to sounds, his pulse increases. He moves and kicks visibly on Jenny's belly. He is even moving in rhythm to music. His lungs are still growing but are not yet mature. Patterns of his brain waves appear like a full-term newborn. He also has patterns of sleeping and waking.

Jenny:

The baby's constant movements have been reassuring to Jenny. Jenny only having gained about 15lbs will be putting on weight at the rate of about 1 pound (454g) per week now. Jenny has been feeling some rib pain as our baby grows and pushes upward on her rib cage. The pressure is said to even cause indigestion and heartburn but, Jenny hasn't yet had those effects. She has been feeling stitch-like pains down the sides of her abdomen as her uterine muscle has been stretching. Jenny also has been having sciatic nerve pain.
